FAQ

Waht are the main ingredients of Bamboo-O?

The main ingredients of Bamboo-O are simple—bamboo fibre and plant starch. We purchase bamboo residue from the Taiwanese bamboo industry and plant starch from wheat, corn, and potato residue from the agriculture industry to make Bamboo-O.

How do I correctly dispose of Bamboo-O products?

Although the correct way to dispose Bamboo-O products differs slightly between products. In general, we recommend the best way to dispose of Bamboo-O products is to break them into smaller parts and bury them in the soil, such as in a garden, and let them biodegrade naturally over time. If you do not have access to a garden or places that contain soil, you can also toss them in a home compost bin or general waste bin. If you dispose of Bamboo-O products as general waste, they will most likely end up in landfills, which is also a good environment for Bamboo-O products to break down naturally.

How long does it take for a Bamboo-O product to break down naturally?

It depends on the size of the product, the thickness of the product, and what kind of environment it is in. For example, we tested that the Bamboo-O straw will start to biodegrade in 45 days in fresh soil. However, bigger products such as a Bamboo-O food container will take more than 18 months to break down.

If Bamboo-O is home-compostable and breaks down naturally, does thismean that it is not durable?

Not at all. The benefit of Bamboo-O is that it is durable like plastic but made of natural materials. For it to start breaking down naturally, it requires the right environment, such as a garden or landfill.

Is Bamboo-O a bioplastic?

No. Bamboo-O is not a bioplastic as it does not contain any plastics or polymers.
